Welcome to my web site! My name is Tom Te-wu Ma. I was born in Jiangsu Province, China in 1932. In 1949, I moved to Taiwan where I graduated from National Taiwan University. In the early 1960's, I came to Kalamazoo, Michigan, the United States as a foreign student with Western Michigan University. My retirement started in 1996 in Wyoming. Shortly after, I took my wife, Julia Yao-wen Ma, to start a new life in Houston, Texas. As I don't have to go back to work, I spend most of my time in reading and writing as well as playing table tennis in hopes that I can keep my body in a good shape mentally and physically both. The above picture was taken by Dave Perry, the editor of the Ranger (a daily newspaper in Riverton, Wyoming) in 1987 when I started to write a weekly columns for his newspaper. I had written the column for more than 14 years, even after I moved out of Wyoming, with more than 600 columns published. My wife said that other than our wedding pictures, this is her favorite picture of me in all our forty plus years of marriage; therefore, I would like to show it to the people who have never seen me to mislead them to imagine that I am still young and "handsome". |
